Videos from SD card will not play on Windows 7?

Posted on February 22nd, 2012 in Security | No Comments »

I just recently got this new gatway intel E5700 Dual Core processor, and I can open up pictures when I put my SD card in the SD card reader, but when I click on a video that I made with my Digital camera a dialogue box pops up and says Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file. How do I get my videos to play and open up? Where can I find the right codecs to use. I’m so used to XP on my old computer, and still getting used to Windows 7. I remember on my older computer these types of videos played on quick time player, but I guess the default player on my new computer is Windows media player. How do I get my videos to play on Windows media player, or play anywhere? Any information will be helpful. thanks.

Any way to run xp games on windows 7 computers?

Posted on February 4th, 2012 in Software | 2 Comments »

Specifically jeopardy. My dad purchased the game jeopardy for his computer with windows 7, a couple of months ago, and we had to take it back to the store, because when I installed it on his computer, it loaded, but than the graphics froze and didn’t support his Compaq computer. I have a new computer now with Windows 7, and it is a 64 bit Intel Pentium processor E5700. I contacted Encore games to see if the Jeopardy Super Deluxe game would install on my 64 bit computer, but they said no, and another tech, I talked to at an office store said it wouldn’t either. I’ve read a couple of forums on the internet that said xp games can work on Windows 7? But, I don’t want to waste $19.99 to find out if this jeopardy game will work on Windows 7? It’s a different jeopardy game than my dad purchased, but both are xp versions. Are there any codecs or graphics updates to support xp games on windows 7? I don’t know if my dads computer is a 32 bit or 64 bit, and if that had something to do with the jeopardy game not working on his computer. Any info will be helpful
The game is 2008

Divx and embedded webpage videos look blocky on Windows 7 64bit?

Posted on January 22nd, 2012 in Software | 1 Comment »

I am runnign windows 7 64 bit, with a ATI 4850 video card. I have noticed blocky video in vlc and other video programs, but have been able to fix it by switching the renderer to say opengl. Still though, when using IE or firefox, all divx videos and alike have a almost watermark like boxing effect on all videos. Is there a workaround or fix for this, is there away to manual set the render for IE in the registry? I have tried uninstalling, and reinstalling divx codecs, and even large codec packs. yes i know windows 7 comes with a built in divx codec, but i thought I would try anyways. anyone have a solution to the blocky embedded video in IE and firefox?
